About Us
Our Pastors
Rev. Andrea Armstrong
Praise God for this opportunity to share with you some important milestones in my life and ministry. It has been an incredible journey so far and I believe it can only get better!
I was born and raised in Philadelphia , the 3 oldest of 11 siblings and not from the most affluent family. God enabled me to graduate from High School and to go on to higher education.
In college, I discovered that I had a natural affinity to the medical professions.
So, I began training first as an operating room technician, and then I completed 3 years of training to become a licensed Professional Registered nurse through Philadelphia General Hospital. Caring for people just seemed to come naturally!
A friend in the profession suggested that I might like to go into teaching in Health Occupations given my ability to work with people.
So another chapter had begun. Back to school, this time Temple University from where I received a Bachelors Degree in Education and eventually my Professional Teaching certificate from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
The next thirty plus years was spent teaching in Secondary and Adult Education in the Philadelphia School System.
God was at work in all of these secular activities. I was recognized by my colleagues and was awarded The Chaplin of Four Chaplains’ Legion of Honor Membership and was also nominated for the Rose Lindenbaum Improvement-of-Education Award. As well a Recognitions for Volunteer Service in various community organizations.
During those years I was married to the late Rev. Dr. Edward S. Armstrong of Merchantville, New Jersey and raised a family. God used my husband to help bring me to the Lord. Together we worked in ministry. God allowed us to found churches in Philadelphia (one of which exist today) and to minister on the mission field in Liberia, West Africa and to participate in medical missions in Atlanta, Georgia, as well as pastoring in churches in New Jersey. As a pastor’s wife I learned even more about people and how to better care for their physical (RN), mental (BS Ed), and spiritual (Born Again) needs. God uses everything that we yield to Him for our good and His Glory.
Education was again a vital part of the process of serving God and His people.
As of this writing I have diplomas in Biblical Studies from Faith Christian Baptist Church Bible School, Philadelphia, Pa; New Life Fellowship Church - Alpha Omega Academy’s Diploma of Practical Theology, Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary’s Certificate of Biblical Studies.
As well as certificates of completion from the Evangelical Teachers Training Association, Equipping Ministries International’s Life Training, and our own Koinonia School of Ministry.
I have been a member of ALFC since 1995, this membership resulting from a merger between my previous church, New Life Fellowship (a cell group church) and Trinity Fellowship both of New Jersey . In January of 2000 I was ordained as a Minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ by Abundant Life Fellowship.
Currently, as a member of the pastoral team, my responsibilities include but are not limited to providing oversight for our Small Group Ministry, serving as a board member on the Apostolic Council and on occasion share in the preaching and teaching of the Gospel.
We call our small groups Koinonia* Groups. Our members gather together in homes throughout the community on a bi-weekly basis to have a time of sharing, caring, studying the Word of God and praying. We have groups formed around a common interest (Food Bank Ministry), gender specific (male-female), couples, intergenerational, singles (co-ed), and youth groups. Meetings usually take place on Wednesday or Friday evenings. Each group is led by a group leader who has first of all felt led by the Lord to serve in this capacity and then given training prior to leading as well as on-going training in the fundamentals of group life, leadership skills and Christian living.
Our small groups are crucial to the vision and mission of this church; 'Touching South Jersey and beyond with the Love of Jesus'.
Thank you for visiting our site, and I hope to see you soon~
